surf report and fish and a little bit about something

Welcome to the weekly surf report
Hi, Jeffrey here,
In our area for the week of Dec 12, 2010 is mostly back ground swell from the Northern Hemi. Small barely rideable at stand out breaks.  I surfed last week and it was ok and really clean. If you have reached this weeks report and are planning to go surf, feel free to contact me at my This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

We know most of you like the water, hope this surf report gives you an idea on local area waters in and around Jaltemba area.  This week might be good for fishing and might be bad…depends on your chance on what is happened offshore with the commercial fisherman and of course!!  Our regular visiting Captains from up north. They have been catching Tuna, Dorado, around the 10mile and 22mi. and 33mi….plus in the boat is always worth 4 around a floating bush, in which most cases always has something under it. Whether or not it will bite, you tell me.

Now I really want to go fishing or surfing its in my blood.

Many of our visitors love the ocean, As for me, most of the guys I grew up with surfed, fished and dove, all of us are now Past our 50s but, I have to tell you, most of them are still at it.  Like many of them, I enjoy the paddle out and just taking in the surroundings one more time. No, we don’t surf big waves like when we where young (20plus feet).  Beer, extension of bellies and excuses, no exercise, jobs, family and no time are the culprit in most cases.  We are so busy these days it’s hard to find the time, where does it go?

The main attraction near shore is the waves, the movement of energy through the water hits its final destination.  It’s not only mesmerizing to watch from shore. It is more so when you’re in the water physically close to that same energy. The first time you first connect to that “energy”!  Careful you might get pounded!  With young kids and young at heart, something special happens inside. The kid inside you wants to come out.  Now, it could be just  a shore break wave in knee to chest high water.  Maybe, a little further out where the waves are slightly bigger, wow! now the real fun begins.

Mostly, for me the clincher was speed, like without a car.  Keep in mind that although its beautiful to watch, you are most times over your head when out there.  Of course, one needs the basic ability to swim, paddle and sometimes kick. Being safe while out in the water is always priority one and while others are around you is especially important.  There are unwritten rules of the road, for instance, don’t take off in front of me.  Kidding of course!

Fact is, learning to have fun out in the water is so simple. I, myself, personally have fell off my surfboard on my own (as opposed to being pushed) more than a couple of times, ok that may be a gross exaggeration. But, 98% of the time when you fall off, you come up laughing at yourself, your friend or who ever is out in the water with you.

Some suggestions are:
Try not to laugh like a crazy person, people generally will paddle away from you.
Have fun, that’s what’s happening.
Guys don’t hover around young hot surfer girls in the water until you can at least sit on your board for more than 5 minutes without falling off. We are weird enough.

My experience has taught me it’s not the amount of waves you catch. It’s the feeling that counts and the overall experience. Just maybe, being out on or in the water could be a fun, exciting experience. It’s a moment in time, a getaway, a recorded moment on your disk of life a vacation, with out the stress of everyday life, worthy of remembrance.

In conclusion, our coastline is very dynamic in the way it interacts to the Pacific Ocean. Our area in this time of year is affected by Northern hemisphere waves. Every time one of these has an event, swells pass by and effects some kind of change in or around the NW coastal bend of Nayarit. Then its, “surfs up”
