5th annual horse shoe tournament

Jim Howell, The Bar-b-que guy, sponsors the 5th annual horseshoe tournament.

There were 44 entrants. Some would be players had to be turned away.

The tournament was held in front of Dave's Palapa Bar and restaurant.

There were two members of each team. Both men and woman of all ages.

16 trophies were given out. Two for each team placing 1st to 7th and two for the worst score. This was called the Dead ##### Last trophy.

There were 44 entries with 22 teams playing on 14 courts.

Each player threw 12 shoes against the opposing team. The combined scores of the two team members determined the winner.

Bob and Jim Howell. The tournament is called El Famoso. A name given to Bob several years ago and, says Bob "The reason for this name is to be revealed only after my demise."

Tournament was held on the beach in front of Dave's Palapa Bar at Rincon de Guayabitos, Nayarit, Mexico

More people showed up than anticipated. Next year it will be set up to permit more players to participate.

Jim Howell, who has a Bar-b-que business in San Marcos, California, sponsored the tournament and furnished all trophies.

16 trophies were given out. Seven winning teams and one dead ##### last.

There were a number of drawings for prizes
There were a number of drawings for prizes
Drawing tickets were sold and over 65 prizes handed out, including winners of $750, 600 and 250 pesos. The sum of $1990 pesos was given to the Residents Asssociation in Rincon de Guayabitos to help install a pedestrian foot bridge across the river into La Peñita
