The Burroughs family enters the valley of the throat cutters.

Hiking down the jungle trail

A petroglyph - what does it mean?

Experts have different opinions as to the meanings of these markings and symbols

Several of these crosses are to be found in the valley. Most are of a slightly different design. Some early historians believed these people to be of Christian descent.

This pond, which is fed by the stream is deemed to be the sacred place of the throat cutters. No one lives in the valley. No one stays here after dark. Drums have been heard late at night although the throat cutters are extinct.

Strange as it seems, this sacred pool has the same outline as the state of Nayarit.

The oldest of these markings are said to be 2000 years old. About the type of christ. How did this white race get here? Huicholes tell of seeing white ghosts to this day.

Huicholes consider this to be a spiritual place and often come here to offer small tokens of tribute to insure good health, better crops, etc.

A reptile, iguana or lizard is etched into this solid rock. Very few drawings depicting living creatures are to be found here.
